On April 19 join us at 18:00 to celebrate the UN-Day of mother-earth in a panel discussion about the future of sustainability policies in Europe and in Germany. Mr. Msc Vinicius Vizzotto LL.M., In-House Counsel from DLL Group and Phd Student at Tilburg University in the Netherlands, and Ms. Ulrike Jürschick, Phd Student at the University of Münster and research analyst at the Federal Government’s Commission on global environmental changes, will come together to tell us more about how environmental policies should and could develop in the next years and discuss the impact of COVID-19 thereon.

The first speaker will be Msc. Vinicius Vizzotto LL.M. His presentation has the title „Sustainable Finance Regulation Dynamics in EU post COVID-19: the way forward“ and will touch upon the following aspects: the social and economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemics in EU; sustainability as an hybrid and essentially contested term: multiple angles and perspectives; triple bottom line; waves of fundamental rights; the current status of sustainable regulations coming into force on the financial system of EU, from 2021 to 2024 and enhancing social aspects of sustainability in the digital era and post COVID-19.

Ulrike Jürschik will follow with a presentation about „Transformation to Sustainability – a Challenge for German Environmental Law?“. The presentation introduces shortly the concept and necessity of sustainability transformations. It discusses the status of sustainability and climate change mitigation in German Law, especially German Environmental Law using some current examples. An outlook will be given on the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on sustainability politics.

About the speakers:
Vinicius Diniz Vizzotto, Phd external candidate (Tilburg), Msc (UFRGS), LLM (Hamburg), is an Italo Brazilian Corporate Counsel with 15 years of professional experience, having lived in Brazil, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Currently he is part of the Legal Business Team of DLL Group, a Dutch financial company owned by Rabobank, with more than 30 offices worldwide. It is a corporation specialized in sustainable financial solutions for Equipment and Services in the areas of Agriculture, Construction, Healthcare, Cleantech and Tech Solutions. Along with his corporate function Vinicius is currently engaged in an external PhD where he studies the dynamics of Sustainable Finance Regulations at EU level and its impact in the financial sector.

Ulrike Jürschik is a Phd candidate at the Institute for Environmental and Planning law at the University of Münster. She is the research analyst of Prof. Dr. Sabine Schlacke at the German Advisory Council on Global Change which regularly advises the German federal government.
